I love this lesson and I plan to encourage our DE faculty to do something like this next semester. Thanks for sharing! I winder what will happen when all 100 people from toronto get on here. I’ll be interested in how this handles that.

Nellie, I would like to have a “Where are you from – originally?”-map too! For example me: I was born 250 kilometres north from where I live now, what makes a difference, mentally … :) Are these experiences with distances/differences different in other countries? And how?

I guess technically it could be in any community, seeing as how its generic enough. Unless there’s a generic community out there.

This lesson is a dynamic commentary on the fact that our consciousness can stretch globally and yet stay locally. At the sign up and sign in/out of any knowledge-site this ought to be present to make our global presence felt. My ‘idensity’ is not in isolation, but in immanently being with all who seek and live in knowledge. Even if the map is removed, once registered it cannot be deleted from consciousness.

I was just thinking two days ago that it would be a great idea if these social networking websites could offer the opportunity to show on a world map where all the members are coming from (customised for each single user). As far as I know you just see pictures in form of a photo gallery but in order to find out where people are coming from you would have to look at each single profile. A world map would show you how world-connected someone is …. don’t you think so?

so I put pin in where am I now rather than where am I from. I’m in Edmonton these days though from Toronto originally. I think poshmonkey’s idea is really interesting for sure…it would also help figure out who you should visit on your next vacation
